The Sun: WWE announces first ever PPV wrestling event in Scotland

Story from The Sun:

Wrestling history will be made in Scotland this summer after WWE announced the country’s first ever premium live event will take place at Glasgow’s OVO Hydro.

The likes of Drew McIntyre, Cody Rhodes and Bianca Belair are the just some of the superstars expected to draw a huge crowd for Clash at the Castle: Scotland.

Drew, from Ayrshire, is headlining WrestleMania this month and has vowed for years to bring such a spectacle to his homeland.

It will be held on Saturday June 15, with flagship weekly broadcast Friday Night SmackDown also taking place in the OVO Hydro the night before.

The huge news follows the record-setting Clash At the Castle which took place at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, in September 2022.

At the time, the event became the most-viewed and highest-rated international Premium Live Event in company history.

WWE President Nick Khan said: “We are excited to bring both Friday Night SmackDown and Clash At The Castle: Scotland to our amazing fans in Scotland at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow this June.

“The world will see that this is one of the UK’s best venues and Scottish crowds are some of the loudest, craziest and most passionate on the planet.”
