Daily Record: Ex Netflix chief Erik Barmack in Motherwell investment bid as Hollywood tycoon set to fly in for Fir Park fact finder

Story from Daily Record:

Former Netflix chief Erik Barmack is the man behind the plan to plough fresh money into Motherwell.

And the Los-Angeles based 50-year-old will visit Fir Park next week as he looks to step up his plan for the Lanarkshire club. Barmack answered the call from the Steelmen after they released a tongue-in-cheek video in January appealing for Hollywood-style investment similar to Rob McIlhaney and Ryan Reynolds injection into Wrexham.

Motherwell are of one three teams in the Premiership to be "fan owned" with supporters from The Well Society completing a move to become majority shareholders in the Fir Park club back in 2016. They have a 71-per-cent stake in the club and the Fir Park board stressed that members would have the final approval on any potential deal. Back in January, Motherwell actively called for financial backing after sharing a video pleading with US pop superstar Taylor Swift to 'gie us some dosh' that quickly circulated around social media - and earlier this week they revealed they were at advanced stages of discussions over investment.

And Los Angeles-based Barmack is the man behind the plan. The 50-year-old boasts 25 years of experience in production, worldwide media distribution and digital media development. He held a variety of senior executive roles at Netflix. He then went on to establish Wild Sheep Content - a production company responsible for selling programmes to an international audience.
