Bizasia: Zab Khan to leave the BBC after 35 years

Zab Khan has announced his exit from the BBC, after a span of over 35 years.

Khan started at the BBC in 1989 as what he described in a statement as a “hobby”. His BBC stint commenced with work local programming on BBC Radio Cambridgeshire/Peterborough. This then paved way for event management work at the BBC Asian Network.

Taking to social media, Khan said, “There have been many achievements over the past 3 decades – from the launch of the station going national and transforming the network from a purely analogue offering to an interactive and innovative multi platform proposition, to setting up programme teams across different sites in the UK, discovering/supporting new musical talent, putting on amazing live events and taking the station from strength to strength.”

During his tenure, Khan has worked with some of the biggest event at the BBC Asian Network including the BBC Mega Mela in 1998, launching Asian Network Live in 2005, partnerships with external stakeholders including South Bank Centre, The O2, London Mela, amongst many others.

Khan is expected to announce his next move soon.
