Daily Mail: Jeff Stelling confirmed as new talkSPORT breakfast show host

Story from Daily Mail:

Jeff Stelling will present talkSPORT's Breakfast Show every Monday and Tuesday after departing Sky's Soccer Saturday.

Mail Sport revealed last month that Stelling, 68, was the frontrunner to replace Laura Woods on the morning radio programme.

TalkSPORT have now confirmed the much-loved broadcaster will present twice a week alongside popular pundit Ally McCoist from December.

Alan Brazil will present the show for the remainder of the week, alongside McCoist on Wednesday, Gabby Agbonlahor on Thursdays and Ray Parlour on Fridays.

Hartlepool United superfan Stelling stepped down as host of Soccer Saturday after 25 years at the end of last season, with Simon Thomas taking over.

Woods joined TNT Sports, the rebranded BT Sport, as their lead Champions League and boxing presenter last month, while also fronting ITV's Women's World Cup coverage.

Stelling gained a cult following for his encyclopaedic knowledge of the English and Scottish leagues while presenting Sky's Soccer Saturday results show.

Stelling said: 'I'm so pleased to be joining the team at talkSPORT. As a long time listener to the show it's a dream of mine to sit in the legendary chair and wake people up every Monday and Tuesday.

'I might not be looking forward to the 4:30 alarm call, but I am looking forward to getting stuck in with great guests, chat and fun every morning alongside the legendary Ally McCoist.'

Until Stelling arrives on the airwaves in December, the Breakfast Show will be presented by Natalie Sawyer and Andy Townsend alongside Scotland and Rangers legend McCoist.

Thomas saw off competition from fellow Sky presenters Caroline Barker and Jules Warren to secure the Soccer Saturday role and began last weekend as the EFL season kicked off.

Thomas immediately won a big name admirer in the form of Wrexham co-owner Ryan Reynolds as he stepped into the big shoes of Stelling on Saturday afternoons.

TalkSPORT have also announced former Leicester and Celtic manager Martin O'Neill will make regular appearances on the White and Jordan show on weekdays.

Former England defender Danny Rose is also joining the station's live football team.
