Broadband TV News: The subscriptions that Brits plan to cancel

Story from Broadband TV News:

As the cost of living continues to increase a new survey has put Amazon Prime as the subscription service most likely to be cancelled.

Data from online data experts at VPN Overview shows ‘Cancel Amazon Prime’ has received the most searches in the last 12 months, with 232,540 on average.

The average UK household spends £41.70 on online subscriptions. Spotify is second with 220,340, followed by Sky TV on 163,340 and 162,800.

“It’s interesting to see such a high number of searches around cancelling subscription services which are often part of our daily lives. However, as the cost of living continues to rise and these services hike their prices, it’s no surprise to see people sacrificing their premium packages,” said a VPN Overview spokesperson.

However, the table may simply be an indicator of how many subscriptions the company has in the first place.

According to the BARB Establishment Survey, in Q2 2022 Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and NOW all saw quarterly drops in the number of UK homes with access to their services.

However, both Disney+ and AppleTV+ both recorded small quarterly gains.
