Warner Bros Discovery (WBD) has appointed Christina Sulebakk as general manager for the Nordics, elevating her from her post overseeing HBO Max in the EMEA region.In her new role, Sulebakk will be responsible for managing WBD’s channels and services, and marketing and revenue generation of US and local content across all business areas in the Nordic region.Most recently, as HBO Max EMEA chief, Sulebakk played a key role in the launch and leadership of the streamer in 21 countries.Before that, she held various senior positions at WarnerMedia including executive VP, chief marketing officer and head of distribution for HBO Europe. She was pivotal in migrating the company’s Central European business into streaming and launching HBO EspaƱa.The appointment is the latest executive reshuffle coming as part of the recent US$43bn merger between WarnerMedia and Discovery.Sulebakk will report to James Gibbons temporarily until Gibbons changes full time to his new role of president and MD at APAC later this year, having led Discovery’s Nordic business since 2020. After that Sulebakk will report to Priya Dogra, WarnerMedia’s former EMEA & Asia president, who recently became WBD EMEA president and MD (excluding Poland).“Christina is a terrific leader who has been instrumental in building our streaming market in Europe,” said Dogra. “Her knowledge of streaming, deep understanding of the business model and her local connection will make her a key player in our continued efforts in these important countries.”“I am really looking forward to leading Warner Bros Discovery in the Nordics together with a talented team in the local markets.
