Broadband TV News: Paramount Global’s international chief Raffaele Annecchino placed “On leave”

The man leading the rollout of Paramount+ and Pluto TV in Europe, Raffaele Annecchino, Paramount Global has confirmed.

“Effective today, president, Paramount international studios, networks and streaming, is on leave from the company,” the company said in a short statement.

No further details have been given.

Regional executives JC Acosta, President, International Studios, Streaming and Networks for Southern Europe, Latin America, Middle East and Africa; Maria Kyriacou, President, Australia, Canada, Israel and UK; and Mark Specht, Executive VP and Managing Director, Central and Northern Europe and Asia will step in to cover for Annecchino.

Annecchino has held a number of positions across Paramount Global and its predecessors.

Appointed as president and CEO of ViacomCBS Networks International in December 2020, he had been president of ViacomCBS Networks Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia (EMEAA), during which time he oversaw operations across a range of markets and led and coordinated VCNI’s mobile strategy globally.

Among his achievements were the launch and acquisition of FTA channels in Italy, Spain and Germany, and the creation of a new business unit in September 2020 to help drive ViacomCBS’s digital businesses across the EMEA including free and pay streaming, advanced advertising and ViacomCBS Digital Studios International.

Prior to joining MTV Networks International in 1997, Annecchino held positions at Turner International, Cartoon Network and CNN.
