A GB News star has issued a statement as they confirmed their show has been axed by the broadcaster. GB News star Josh Howie confirmed Headliners has been axed and will be replaced by Patrick Christys' late night show. He penned a lengthy note on X to say he'd tried to fight to keep the show but "the TV ratings were there", adding he was going to "shut up" because he "didn't want to jeopardise Free Speech Nation", which has become his only source of income. The TV star said he is "gutted", but added that the decision made by GB News "has nothing to do with Ofcom and isn't at the behest of Patrick Christys or Ben Leo". He wrote: "I was informed earlier today that with immediate affect headliners is over I'm gutted, I've done my best behind-the-scenes to argue for its continuation, but it's not my call."Howie continued: "Ostensibly, it’s about numbers and even though on radio we jumped 31% this last quarter, the TV ratings weren't increasing enough. Time will tell if this is the right decision. I'm going to shut up now because ironically I don't want to jeopardise Free Speech Nation which I consider one of the most important shows on television. It's now my only regular employment. My advocacy against Jew hate and a spurious campaign by far left activist groups have led to my acting agent firing me and comedy gigs I've worked out for more than two decades, not returning emails. Bring on the lawsuits!"His statement comes after the news that GB News is launching Patrick Christys Tonight Late Edition, airing 11pm to midnight every night. On weekends, Ben Leo Tonight: Late Edition will air at 11pm.Ben Briscoe, Head of Programming at GB News said: "These changes mark a significant expansion and extension of our news and opinion programming.''These new shows will give us greater flexibility and allow us to respond more quickly to breaking stories both at home and abroad."
