New York Post; ‘The Flash’ sequel already written despite Ezra Miller drama: report

Story from New York Post:

“The Flash” — led by the controversial Ezra Miller — has yet to be released for audiences to decide if it’s a blockbuster or a flop.

Nevertheless, The Hollywood Reporter is reporting a sequel has already been written in case the film — due out June 23, 2023 — turns out to be a hit.

“Aquaman” writer David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick penned the follow-up script, according to the outlet.

The news comes as Miller, who uses they/them pronouns, pleaded not guilty to burglary charges Monday. They could spend up to 26 years behind bars if convicted.

In August, some fans predicted “The Flash” would be the next DC franchise flick to be scrapped after Warner Bros. disposed of “Batgirl,” especially because of disturbing assault and grooming allegations against Miller.

But the $200 million “Flash” is still slated to carry on.

Warner Bros. is in the middle of an executive shake-up, with DC Films head Walter Hamada leaving in the coming days. For now, Warner Bros. Pictures head Michael De Luca is in charge of the DC franchise. He gave the go-ahead to “Joker 2,” and he has been making decisions on “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” and “The Flash,” according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Meanwhile, Miller allegedly met with their agent and Warner Bros. leadership at the end of August to apologize for the bad publicity they attracted to the company and production. The meeting also covered how Miller could stay on track until “The Flash’s” release.

That month, Miller announced they would be seeking treatment for “complex mental health issues.”

The Post has reached out to reps for Warner Bros., DC Films and Johnson-McGoldrick for comment.
