The Sun: Virgin Media customers to lose access to eight TV sport channels in just a few days

Story from The Sun:

Virgin Media customers will lose eight sports channels at the end of the week in the latest changes to the service.

Fans of the channels in question may not be entirely surprised seeing as they were only ever temporary.

It follows a shake-up of channels on Virgin Media recently, starting with a big revamp to four channels.

These are Drama, Dave, W and Yesterday, which are now known as U&DRAMA, U&Dave, U&W and U&YESTERDAY.

And last month, we also saw the arrival of NOW 90s & 00s to fill the void from a mass exodus of music channels.

The Box, 4Music, Kiss, Magic and Kerrang TV all closed down - The Box being the longest on air for 32 years.

Now, eight channels are disappearing from Virgin Media viewers who subscribe to sport.

Eurosport launched eight special channels for the Paris Olympics this year on top of its usual two channels.

But as the event is coming to a close very soon it means the extra channels are no longer needed.

This includes the Eurosport UHD pop-up channel too.

Here's a full list of channels going:
  • Ch 562 - Eurosport UHD
  • Ch 563 - Eurosport 3 HD
  • Ch 564 - Eurosport 4 HD
  • Ch 565 - Eurosport 5 HD
  • Ch 566 - Eurosport 6 HD
  • Ch 567 - Eurosport 7 HD
  • Ch 568 - Eurosport 8 HD
  • Ch 569 - Eurosport 9 HD

The usual Eurosport 1 and Eurosport 2 are staying put.

It's not all sad news for sports lovers though, as Virgin Media has made two channels free this month.

For all of August, customers can access both Premier Sports 1 HD and Premier Sports 2 HD at no extra cost.

You can find them on channels 551 and 552 respectively.

Premier Sports recently resurfaced in the UK after its previous incarnation Viaplay Sports disappeared from screens.

For those unaware, Premier Sports is home to several competitions, including Spanish and Scottish football games, as well as rugby.
