Daily Mail: BBC confirm 'landmark' new deal to show 15 Super League games-a-season

Story from Daily Mail:

The Rugby Football League have confirmed a ‘landmark’ new three-year deal for the BBC to broadcast 15 Super League games a season.

As first revealed by Mail Sport last month, 10 matches – likely Saturday evening kick-offs - will be aired on BBC TV for the first time, with five others to be streamed on their digital platforms.

The World Club Challenge between Wigan and Penrith on February 24 will also be shown live on BBC Two.

Sky Sports will still show every Super League match live, as well as the World Club Challenge.

‘This is a landmark agreement for rugby league,’ said Rhodri Jones, managing director of Rugby League Commercial.

‘Securing live free-to-air coverage on the BBC for the Super League competition means there will be more visibility than ever before.’

The BBC fought off competition from Channel 4, who broadcast 10 live games a season in 2022 and 2023 – the first time Super League matches had ever been shown free-to-air.
