Daily Mail: BT Sport announce plans to SCRAP one of their most popular shows

Story from Daily Mail:

BT Sport are axing their popular Score football programme, with the channel's on-screen talent told the show will no longer exist as of next season.

Insiders at the broadcaster say morale is at an all-time low.

After the initial excitement surrounding the joint venture with Warner Bros Discovery - which will see the channel morph into TNT Sports this summer - staff are now in the dark about their futures amid cost-cutting measures.

One worker told Sportsmail the only guarantee they have received from executives is that they are safe until the end of this season.

BT show a live Premier League game at 12.30pm each Saturday, with many viewers then staying tuned in to watch Score immediately after.

Hosted by Jules Breach and the BT equivalent of Sky Sports' Soccer Saturday and BBC One's Final Score, it updates fans on scores from up and down the country.

A panel of pundits including Chris Sutton and Robbie Savage provide their expertise from a lavish studio in Stratford, London.

The show will continue through to the end of this season, but there is anger among Score production staff who want to know what their futures hold.

Others are asking what the channel will show in order to ensure they hold on to subscribers and provide value for money, given the monthly cost.

A Warner Bros. Discovery Sports spokesperson said on Wednesday: 'Editorial reviews are undertaken as a matter of course in preparation for every new season.

'For next season, this includes considering the programming that will continue, as the channel becomes TNT Sports, and as part of the line-up supporting the same live sport fans enjoy on BT Sport today.

'As part of this process, we have confirmed to staff that BT Sport Score will not be continuing next season.

TNT Sports will take over BT's existing portfolio of live rights, which includes two more seasons of Premier League matches, the next four years of Champions League fixtures and Premiership Rugby.

While as many as 1m viewers regularly tune in to BT's live coverage of Premier League action - with many staying on to enjoy Score - BT bosses are seeking methods of reducing costs.

It comes after rivals Sky Sports announced shake-ups of their own to both Soccer Saturday and the much-loved Saturday morning programme Soccer AM, which is set to end it's 30-year run at the end of the season.
