Philip Jansen was speaking as BT reported revenues of £10.4 billion, a 1 per cent increase, amid declines in larger corporate customers and the disposal of BT Sport. But pre-tax profits fell by 18% to £831 million for the six months to the end of September.Jansen said there remained the possibility of both job cuts and consumer price rises as the group tries to offset soaring inflation and energy costs.In September, BT announced it had completed its agreement with Warner Bros. Discovery for a 50:50 joint venture combining the assets of BT Sport and Eurosport UK.Fibre-to-the-Premises has now passed 8.8m premises, including 2.8m in rural areas, with an initial build underway on a further 6 million premises. Connections are ahead of plan with the addition of a further 331,000 in the quarter and a total take-up of 27%The increase in fibre has added £1 to BT’s monthly ARPU (Average Revenue per Unit).
