BizAisa: UMP Movies shuts down operations in UK

News from BizAisa:

UMP Movies has closed down in the UK, ending its broadcasting operations in this territory completely.

The channel, which launched on Sky in December 2011, quickly became a huge success in UK ratings.

Since its launch, the channel has stayed closely behind market leader, Star Plus.

Its sister channel, UMP Stars, which launched few months later could not garner the same success as its flagship movie channel.

UMP Movies ceased broadcasting in the UK in the early hours of this morning.

It will now be replaced with Viacom18’s new movie channel, Rishtey Cineplex.

A launch party for the new service took place in Central London last night.

Rishtey Cineplex officially begins broadcasting post midday today.

Rishtey Cineplex will be available on Sky channel 797 and on Freeview in the coming days.

It will not be available on Virgin Media but may launch at a later date.
